About Melissa Wandall

Sarasota, FL ~ Melissa Wandall is a highly regarded professional resource whose life story helps insurance companies educate their financial advisors on the merits and value of life insurance investments.

Beyond working with the insurance profession, shortly after Mark’s death, Melissa set out to change highway safety so that others would not have to lose loved ones or their own lives in senseless traffic crashes. With Madisyn in tow every step of the way, Melissa embarked on two missions so that she could give back to her community and help others.

Before meeting Mark, Melissa worked in senior sales and marketing positions in the tourism and hospitality industry. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Concord College in Athens, West Virginia.

The Mark Wandall Foundation, a 501C3, was founded in 2004 to support and nurture children who have experienced loss of a parent or guardian due to vehicle collisions on our highways, and to educate and raise awareness regarding traffic safety and compliance. The organization and its volunteers aid these children through counseling, bereavement camp and college scholarship.

STOP! Red Light Running Coalition of Florida, a 501C4, was founded in 2007 to raise community awareness regarding traffic safety and compliance. The aim is to put safe, educated, courteous drivers back on Florida Highways. Supported by other safety nonprofits, community leaders, elected officials and businesses, the organization is starting to impact this much-needed public safety area.

On May 13, 2010, after four years of advocating and outreach, the Mark Wandall Traffic Safety Act was passed to establish uniform standards for use of Red Light Safety Cameras at Florida intersections to help combat red-light running.

Media coverage on her story and mission of improving traffic safety Melissa has been featured in national media venues including the “Today” show, Fox TV, “Your Turn” with Russell Rhodes, The Wealth Channel, Ladies’ Home Journal, Newsweek, West Coast Woman, Mom Talk Radio WUSF Public, Edmonton Broadcasting, Life Insurance Foundation for Health and Education.
